Accessing MAP testing data is not difficult. The steps are:
1. Go the NWEA website (www.nwea.org).
2. Click on the Reports Site button located on the right-hand side of the page.
3. Enter a user name and password to get to the NWEA Reports page. If you do not know your user name and password, ask your administrator.
4. Click on Teacher Reports under “Online Resources” on the left-hand side of the page.
5. Select a term.
6. To view the numerical RIT range for each testing category, click View by RIT ranges. Conversely, to view the RIT range as LO, AVG, HI, click View by goal descriptors.
7. Click submit.
8. All of the Class by RIT reports for you will be displayed for every test (math, reading, and language usage).
Generating Reports
The NWEA site is quite user friendly. I suggest simply logging in and exploring the site to see exactly what kind of reports they offer. This will allow you to focus on the reports that would be most helpful for you and your classroom. Below is a set of directions that you can use to begin your exploration.
1. On the NWEA Reports page use the vertical bar on the left-hand side of the page to further investigate the site.
2. Under “Online Resources”
• Click Class Rosters to view a comparison of students’ testing data from one testing period to another.
• Click Class By Subject to view the testing data of one class in different groupings (i.e. name, ethnicity, or gender).
• Click Grade By Subject to view testing data of an entire grade in different groupings (i.e. name, ethnicity, or gender).
3. Under “Instructional Resources”
• Click Class by RIT to view students arranged by RIT scores for the math, reading, and language usage tests. Clicking on the individual tests will bring up a page that allows you to view the RIT ranges for each goal area of the test. From this page, clicking on a student's name will bring up a .pdf file containing the DesCartes skills that correspond to the goal RIT range for the associated goal.
4. Under “Data—Tools”
• Click Descartes to investigate DesCartes: A Continuum of Learning. This framework is based on your state standards and serves as the backbone of the tests. DesCartes translates MAP test scores into the skills and concepts students may be ready to learn.
• Click Dynamic Reports to go to the Dynamic Reporting Suite. The site offers tools to further analyze test data.
